The Great ANZAC Day Debate Victory On Friday 26 April Club 15 hosted the annual Anzac Day Breakfast Meeting at the Metro Inn, South Perth. The morning kept in with the tradition of remembrance with a moving speech from historian Bill Edgar about the 2/16th battalion. The first half of the breakfast also included the National Anthem with the Last Post followed by a silent tribute, giving us all the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices our soldiers made fornus. The second part of the morning was more of a lighthearted nature with the ‘Great Debate’. The topic was ‘Humour is an Aussie solider’s best weapon’ with Club 42 (affirmative) battling it out against Club 8.
The speakers from these clubs were: Club 42 Louise Warren, Phil Otley and Adrian Grant.
Club 8 Peter Humphreys, Roger Edland and Lisa Buckleton.
After much deliberation from the adjudicators Freeman Gloria Hancock, Speaker Terry O’Meara and Alan Ham we were crowned victorious for the second year in a row.
